Why would anybody think that because they are hardworking they should be immune to layoff? The lack of fairness is a risk every paycheck dependent employee takes.
But SM is not expected to announce layoffs on those all hands meetings, right? ...last time the burden of giving the bad news was delegated to his QCT subordinates. Was it because 600 is a negligible number of hard working, paycheck depending employees?
I really look forward for a "don't worry guys" kind of speech tomorrow because if SO does bother to mention a layoff it really must be a massive one
Dont feel bad guys. QC isnt the only one. I worked at a company where it was the first time I heard an exec say they wanted to cut engineering/costs (ie hire overseas and reduce comps and possibly layoff) with the phrase "reduce engineering inflation". Total Dilbert moment.

This is capitalism at its finest. Be a successful company, have billions of cash on hand, hand out massive pay to the execs, screw over the real work force to appease the Wall Street rats, then have a communication meeting that views like a Seinfield sitcom (meaning talk about nothing for 30mins).
