Thread regarding SandRidge Energy Inc. layoffs

The long goodbye

People of Sandridge or even OKC in the energy industry hear me now. I have been through the 80's. This isn't a short term problem, if the status quo doesn't fundamentally change internally Sandridge and several others will be unrecognizable by 2017... This is a multi-year shift that was a long time coming, make more then what's being consumed of anything and watch it's foundation reshape. You can call it a holy war as Saudi Arabia has fought Iran for centuries, call it a Russia too leveraged to ever cut production, recently reinforced by its actual increase. Stockpiles will rise, Fraclog will be commonplace. The end all is that US producer's will ultimately feel the squeeze and if you think for a second OPEC will do anything in June to stop the bloodletting think again. My advice, get into another industry before you're forced to. Take the time now while you have the paycheck and explore other Avenues, if you even have close to less then a decade's experience I would highly recommend it. Don't make me say I told you so on this blog 9 months from now.

I don't think your post was fully understood by the person asking "if someone will buy them". There will be nothing for these companies to do. I too have had the "80's lesson and this one is going to be as bad if not worse then that one. This is not a mere dip. This is not a mere 'budget' restructering' that is done yearly. I'm afraid this is "the big one". The one that won't see a recovery for a few years. No company lays off 8000 employees on a "dip". This is over the cliff.
