Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

There are rumors that several people asked about "volunteering" to be laid off after the severance package was announced. Talk to your supervisor about it if you trust them. It may be available to you as an option and could potentially save another persons job as a result. I'm sure Target would prefer to keep people that want to stay as opposed to those who don't.

Two years ago I asked. The answer was not possible.

Two weeks later I resigned and moved on. Best thing I ever did. I am working, I am happy and I do not have to look out for

Please don't do it, you won't get a severance package, you'll get on the "Target Troublesome" List and they'll manufactures "reasons" to fire you without paying you unemployment benefits as well. Just be glad you have a job to do and stay under their radars.

I know someone who asked and they were told that wasn't an option.

Do it if you have a job lined up already. You get a severance package and potentially save another job from being eliminated. I am guessing that the severance package won't be as big but you get nothing from quitting.

Bad advice. Don't do it. They would be happy to let you go, however it would not be with any type of package.
