Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Shopping at Target Sucks, and I'm Still An Employee

While HQ became a building full of people spending 50 percent of their time or more in networking coffees, and selling themselves, and marketing their "personal brand," and cultivating "mentor relationships" and developing an "individual board of directors," and developing "training and awareness campaigns" for their teams…my experiences as a Team Member trying to shop at the stores, or buy stuff online, or via our god-awful mobile application - became more and more frustratingly awful. Literally the only reason I would continue to shop there was because of my discount. It was so disappointing to realize how completely ass-backwards everything was at headquarters, and then go into stores and find that the most basic items were NEVER in stock. That every visit to Target Grocery would reveal horribly disgusting produce, questionable cleanliness standards and the knowledge that our company's food safety plan was essentially written by third graders. That every attempt of mine to buy something on Target.com was met with some sort of catastrophic technical failure either during the search or during my attempts to use the checkout function. That I would eventually become so disgruntled with the mobile app that I eventually deleted it from my phone because all it did was suck up memory that I could use to run Amazon Prime. What made everyone think we could do it in Canada when we can barely do it here in America? There's so much broken at this place, I don't even know where to begin. No matter how inflated the stock price, or how many employees are slashed and burned in an bold cash-saving move, Target Corporation is years away from being meaningfully fixed. Jodee, Tina, Kathee, and yes you all on the Board of Directors, this is your fault too.

Yep, all those things suck. Do something about it.

Indeed. Stores are already running on "agile and nimble" cost-saving models. If you think store leadership and presentTion is bad, brace yourself for the same type of overworked, high turnover, back stabbing environment HQ is going experience very soon.

Agreed. As a former Target employee, I only shopped at Target to support my wages. Heck, I even shopped at Costco after my day ended at hq. Those defending Cornell and TGT needs to wake up. Big box retailing is a dying business. TGT will never catch up to Amazon for online retailing, and paying your store employees shit wages only makes millennials avoid you.

Wow, I've experienced the exact same things and had the same reactions! I didn't know I had a twin.
