Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

To those who thought lay off were bad...

Consider yourself lucky. There (no surprise) does not appear to be any actual strategy to execute within the CoE's. We literally go to work and do nothing except stew in our own anxiety and lack of information. This has to be the most poorly executed thing Ive seen at target, and that's saying a lot when you consider Canada, target ticket, Everest etc.

Almost all of the folks that remain are taking phone interviews with other organizations while in the office and have no desire to ride this shit wave out (cowabunga!).

Consider yourselves lucky

I know I am going to probably get grief either way. I am just going give my opinion whether you like it or not. I am seeing light at that end of a dark tunnel. Our CEO had to do what is best for the company. If you put emotions aside from the true purpose you will see the vision. I am sad to hear people lost their jobs. I also had a hard time seeing some of these people that got laid off having their "networking" sessions instead of helping us TM's that truly serve the guests. Yes there would be times when TM's would have to search for their TL's while their TL's were having networking sessions. I am hoping these "networking" people that did get laid off will now humble themselves. Also you have to consider it wasn't Brian's fault this happen, you can blame good old Gregg. He was the one that was allowing mgmt to run wild. I appreciate Mr. Cornell stepping up to the plate and leading us down a new road.

Trust me. Withe the new regime the only way I will leave is if they try to fire me. I have had nothing but great reviews and have been fortunate to work on high visibility and successful projects and can get things done. If all of a sudden I start getting bad reviews, they will have to document the crap out of everything to prove it (as I will also be doing now to protect myself). I won't give them the satisfaction of quitting!

That's the problem with massive layoffs. There are always mistake made. They should have cut you so you don't have to ride this sh*t out. Extremely unfortunate for those that were affected while your ass is saved.

Agreed. Please leave, we don't want you. No strategy? Get off your duff and create the strategy then. You seem to have it all figured out so why don't you meet with your boss and propose something real and legitimate.

At the first sign of trouble, you and your friends jump ship. And people wonder why Target is not loyal to their employees?

Looks like the strategy is to get you guys to leave on your own and not spend another $100M on severance payout. Unlike the awful situation that happened to 1700 TMs, this is a win-win. Target rids themselves of disgruntled employees without paying a dime. You get to find another employer who will be fortunate to have to you.
