you get both personal time and vacation accrued. I quit 3 weeks ago and got both on my check.
in last week's layoff, our severance package says vacation and personal time off will both be paid out. it'll be reflected on our last paycheck and not the lump sum.
Don't confuse withholding with the actual amount of taxes you are required to pay in a given tax year. Severance and vacation pay ARE NOT taxed at a higher rate; they are taxed at the same rate as earned income. Federal WITHHOLDING for a severance payment is a flat 25%. That may or may not be greater than what you have instructed your employer via your W-4 to withhold from your regular paychecks. The amount of actual taxes that you were required to pay in a given tax year is determined when you complete and file your tax return. If too money much was withheld over the course of the year, you get it back as a refund. If not enough money was withheld, you owe additional taxes.
You do not get any PH time. You do get paid your vacation time, but it is a part of the lump sum you get, so it is taxed at a higher rate. You essentially get 50-60% of that paid time.
you get your full vacation even if you resign, you have earned it and they dont take it from you
i heard a rumor that if you resign you only get 60% of accrued vacation. Is that true?
You will get you vacation time that you earned, but not your personal holiday time (so hint - take it while you are able first!)
