Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

India Story

The DMG/KMGs at TI aren't let into much till the last minute.

India HR runs the show, not the country MD. He is under no obligation to update the India head, who has been a puppet since the day he took over from Lalit. Spineless chap who is mostly very scared. When one is fearful, self preservation comes into play. Not a leadership quality, but then he can hardly be called one.

Biggest culprits are the old-timers - DMGs and KMGs - who first protect themselves. Any new leader who pointed out against anything has been forcefully gagged or shifted into a different role.

These old-timers even spend out of their own pockets to entertain visiting MPLS leaders (fact) and NEVER question anything from HQ - which doesn't work well for their teams. They WILL knock you down first, instead of standing for you.

  1. The HR keeps notes on every single thing through the months - everything that can be used against you at any point. DO NOT FRATERNISE with anyone from HR. Stay a mile away and always be nice, smile and be diplomatic.

  2. Pink slip lists are made basis a given budget and scope, and not w.r.t. talent, experience. It is pointless and the HQ HR-OD/HR-TA team has regularly pointed it out - but HRG will never question HQ.

Layoffs may happen in India, but expect figures to be low. Resource cost is very low.

TI has more way more number of LMG+ group than required. They add to the bureaucracy, so called business minded people who dont value the importance to change with time and adopt technology.

Add to that managers and leads who manage smaller teams, as small as 1. There is a need to cut the fat, may be attrition or last resort as layoffs. So much of redundancy across operations teams and bi/tts.

So its gonna come... May be slow... But its gonna hit hard.

Be prepared.

Your final assertion that TI will be minimally impacted I believe is misguided. As you well know, TI serves in a supporting role. They do not dictate company direction, they follow it. If HQ decides to consolidate BI solutions (BI was hit hard), forego custom solutions for out of the box apps, and replace on premise systems with saas, then supporting roles for those areas are no longer needed regardless of how inexpensive those roles may be. Everyone at at Target needs to prepare for the worst. Whether you work out of Minneapolis or Bangalore.

Why did you sign this MPLS KMG? There are multiple clues in this posting that you aren't. If you are going to identify, be brave and honest rather than misleading or just leave it as anonymous.
