Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Global trade structure

is f***ed up. Horrible leaders were given new opportunities to lead great teams with expanded scope. One of our, best and most talented leaders had his team stripped from him and is now reporting to a peer with no experience. Nothing is lined up properly. Makes no sense and bound to fail.

Who do you believe the original poster is?

I happened to come across this post and am disgusted!! I believe I know who the poster is and am unfortunately not really surprised. How dare you call out names or think any person is lesser or better than another! Global Trade is a extremely hard working department with strong leadership and team members. We have complex jobs and make it look easy. Everyone from Director to NE plays an important role where each person is valued. That is why people seek out our department on a regular basis. Yes, we lost fantastic people like other areas did. We need to work to rebuild and help each other. We need to stay away from the gossip and negativity, as we will never be a unified team. I would honestly ask you to take a look at yourself and decide if you want to move forward and help rebuild with the team, if not please quietly remove yourself and find a place where you would be happier.

Kudos to 80598, 80622 & 80835. Perhaps the petty vindictiveness of the posters who called out specific TMs is based on the fear that, under new management, they may actually have to WORK for a change. Most of Global Trade has no doubt read this string, and since we're all quite familiar with our fellow TMs it's safe to say we know who these posters are. And if they were ignorant enough to post from their TARGET-owned computers...

80172 Troll,

You're disgusting for calling people out while you hide behind your phone or computer. You're a deadbeat TM that should have been fired, that wasn't.

Whoever posted this should be ashamed of himself/herself. There are no horrible leaders in Global Trade, first of all, and to put that into writing as though teams will likely fail is disgusting. Secondly, we have a strong director who has kept us strong for years and especially this week, and for anyone to say otherwise is clearly not being a valued team member.

CLEARLY (!!!) the new leaders had nothing to do with deciding their fate. They are just as blown out of the water this week as everyone else, so they need our support more than ever!

Change is always difficult, but we need to be resilient through this.

Be thankful to have a job, people!

Should be focusing on supporting each other to move forward rather than anonymously calling out individuals. Put your name behind it if you feel that way.

On a related note: are there any desks open away from the bathroom?

Listen people, based on the consulting company recommendations, it was then based on pay/time in position. I am 40, not old enough to be a lawsuit risk, and was in my department a long time and made a lot of money. Those were the parameters. We all know really great performers and really poor performers (not all of them) were let go, so it is not about performance. Some people who are much younger and weren't with the company a long time were let go solely to mitigate age discrimination and time in position lawsuits. No, the consulting company did not know actual

people. I would stop trying to figure this out because it has already been made clear - performance doesn't mean anything, and if you get too many promotions and make too much, you're out. If you're cool with that, then carry on and support Target. If you're not, get your resume together and start looking.

I just don't see how that could possibly be. I'm not saying it didn't actually happen, it just seems mind boggling that a company would do something like that. Laying out the reorg and go forward strategy? Absolutely. Deciding who is actually going to be sitting in the remaining chairs? Inconceivable.

80189, my guess is yes there actually is a strategy. They are looking to "lean out" and cut overhead right now. Refined structures and efficiencies will come later. We're still in phase one.

Surely we didn't need to pay a consultant to play 52 card pickup.

So is there a strategy to this?

I think the re-orgs are intentionally thoughtless and meant to be temporary, but kept in tact just long enough to "inspire" resignations or "free lay offs" as Bain Consulting probably calls them.

@80183..that is exactly how it went down

It seems utterly implausible that target handed the reigns to a consulting firm who sought absolutely no input from any level of leadership as to which individuals should actually be placed into these reorganized roles. And yet post after post seem to imply exactly that. There's just no way it could have went down like that.

This is happening everywhere. The reorg will need a reorg once they figure out the pile of shot Bain proposed
