Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Admin role to be re-evaluated

they are re-evaluating the admin role. Admins will be taking on additional responsibilities and may support multiple leaders.

With that said, some will eventually be let go. There is no current criteria for how they will decide who stays and who is let go. You may have a boss today but that doesn't mean they won't re-evaluate another. Similar to what's happening now. You may find yourself on another team, the same team, or without a job.

Just Food for thought

I am actively applying for other opportunities and have interviews lined up. This is not the company I want to work for anymore. Time to move on. It's ok for me but I am sorry for my peers and the lack of value that we apparently have in the "New" Target. We will be the silent team that is laid off. We won't be counted but we will be missed by many. Over the 12 years in this position, I have heard over and over, your team is the glue that keeps us together. Yes, we can be replaced with temps and kids out of college but you will find out when trouble arises, that this was a mistake. Good luck Target!

I'm sure we will get severance but likely not anything like the last round.

Silly typos anyway, I'm pretty sure the message was understood.

I'm not sure who that person was but I assure you THAT is NOT the case at DMG and upwind. We are also expected by our leaders to be on committees to assist with planning, scheduling, and development. We are expected to have GTKY with other admins and leaders to mentor with abd also because we often times have to negotiate calendar times for meetings. You have a very warped sense of the role.

The admins screwed themselves with all the commitees and gtky if you have that much time they should give you more leaders to support. I was told by one of the team assistants they were bored all the time and had nothing to do id see that person sitting by the fireplace chatting on her phone everytime i walked by

I could provide specific examples but I don't want to identify myself or her in the process. Let's just say she's lacking some real basic MS Office skills.

Indeed that argument could be made, but it could also be made at the other end of the org chart as well. Booking travel, managing calendars, scheduling meetings, responding to emails, getting coffee, ordering lunch, etc, etc. This is done at every level of the org chart. Why responsibilities such as those are deemed to be beneath a person by virtue of their title is indicative of the self-important, grandiose view that so many at Target HQ seem to have of themeselves.

In my area, the director's admin is about 900 times more competent than the VP's admin. The VP's admin may have oatmeal for brains.

This is not Walmart, and I will not work for a company whose CEO leads it as though it is.

What's really awful about this entire mess is that had we been laid off with this initial group, our severance package might have been ok. But chances our we will get less severance than this group received.

I work for a CEO in NY. Our VP's are considered executive level. Perhaps you all should reconsider your loyalty to a company that demeans us.

Then perhaps the team should learn to be a bit more Independant huh? Like KMG scheduling thier own travel

That same argument can be made at the SVP level. Actually it can be made at any level. It depends on the area and leaders responsibilities more than anything.

There is absolutely NO reason a Director needs an Admin. And you'd be hard pressed to justify a need at the VP level. Even if you could make a legitimate argument that there is a need at that level, there is no way that need equates to a full time admin per VP.

Time to make my exit. Better companies out ther that give their admins more respect.

It sounds like leaders have known since Monday. I'm definitely not investing much energy moving forward. Even if I'm left, I will have so much more busy work and there will be no upward movement. It's so upsetting to know that we are essentially throw aways.

The VP admin is considered executive level in most companies.

I myself will not be working as hard with this hanging over my head. I plan on leaving. I cannot work for a company that cares so very little about thier employees. I cannot work for a company I no longer trust. They don't care so why should I?

Well, if SVP are the only ones that are going to have their own admins and vp's along with directors are going to share an admin there are going to be quite a few let go

It is such a slap in the face to keep admins on to pick up the pieces after the massive reorg and then cut them as soon as the dust settles. How are we supposed to work at 100% knowing we have this looming over our heads after working so hard to make sure everything is set for the team

Tenure I get but reviews not so much. I was just promoted 6 months ago and have already been told I got an effective simply because I'm new, yet I've been here for almost 20 years.

It's a horrible way to leave people hanging.. Even if they are viewed by some as "just admins" some of them depend on their salaries to live just like everyone else

Review scores shouldn't be considered because everyone knows when you promote or go to a new area you get effective. Rarely does a newly promoted admin get excellent or outstanding.

I've heard from admins within several departments who said their leaders have them estimates of 1-3 months. Also heard that review score and tenure being taken into account as well.

I have a few admin friends who are not planning on sticking around for that reason. It would be too funny if they all left at the same time.

Must have some idea of restructuring plan with Admins why can't they just lay it out there. Constantly being afraid of being laid off is not going to be good for team members or the company.
