Anyone?

If you can't decide whether to take a new job offer immediately or take time off...you seriously should consider whether you want to work or not because that mindset will come out in your interview. You've been inundated with the routine of work for years then suddenly rif'd. You are in shock. Take a couple of weeks to process this life event and allow it to reach a healthy perspective. Then go get after it again with a renewed purpose.

Happy! Just curious, did any EC get the boot?

I wish I was let go yesterday. We were shared bits and pieces of the new restructuring. Still so many questions and no one has any answers to. Those that were let go...consider yourself lucky. I'm serious.

I was let go and feel great. By end of day yesterday, I had at least 10 people reach out to talk about new opportunities. In fact, I have 2 interviews this week already - both promising jobs here in the Cities. My conundrum is whether or not I take a new job ASAP (and get double-paid for 15 weeks+) or do I take some time off and try to land something in May or June. While I'd like do the latter, I'm not sure that's a good move, especially when I have opportunities in front of me. There are jobs out there folks. Use your network - they've likely all been in your shoes and are willing to help, especially in this difficult time. Don't be afraid to ask for help, your friends understand, and you'll be amazed at how much effort they're willing to put forth on your behalf.

Why else do I feel great? No more $2 coffees, 3 times per day. No more $8 parking. No more $9 lunches. No more gas all the way downtown. Geez, by simply not working, I'm up $23 per day. Time for a normal gig, close to home, with free parking, and home brewed Folgers (from Wally World).

I wish I was let go yesterday. We got word of the new restructuring. People moving to completely different areas doing completely different things. Lots of questions not so many answers. Just told this is the way it is going to be. Lots of changes, more work, no change in pay.

I have mixed feeling. After long time in a while, I did not have to respond to any work emails - which is usually how I used to start the days. I have been thinking about doing something on my own for some time now but did not get the gut to quit and come out of comfort zone. I am a firm believer that whatever happens, happens for good. May be best opportunity is presented to me putting me through this situation. I am sure all of us will find jobs sooner or later and will feel that there is plenty of world outside Target.

A little sleepy actually. Normally I would have had 3 coffee statuses by now. I am usually pretty wired this time of day.

I am still in shock, bitter but hopeful. I feel new doors will start opening for me. I've been with Target for 19 years, long days, weekends, missed birthday parties and sport events for my kids due to work. Now, all of that is over and I am ready for a new start. Good luck to all of you.
