Was walked out the door today, along with several others, after 6 years with the company. Severance is 1 week per year (not a full 2-week paycheck per year). Was a pretty good company to work for and was paid well. Wish a pay cut option was at least on the table. I hope they make changes at the higher levels as well to gain better leadership. I'm afraid the future layoffs will be without severance. The poorly managed company has no money. That is when you will see the police walking people out rather than managers.
I was laid off by Weatherford after 6 years up here in Canada and there wasn't any severance.
Thank you! I'm a "sir" :) and yes, they did mention I'm on the re-hire list. I can't wait too long though...have a family to feed. :) My 10-year old son told me I was "fired"..lol...I explained to him the difference between being fired and laid off, then he came back at with me with, "Oh, budget cut." Wow...where do these kids get this stuff. I could only laugh and agree with him.
