Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Does anyone know what level made the decision on who was cut? Director/VP/SVP or only using the guidance of the consulting company?

Our team was told the third party made the org chart, dictated the numbers, suggested cuts around review score and tenure and the SVPs made changes before it was finalized.

In my area, I truly do not think my director knew, and think the VP maybe got "the list" on Monday.

No input 80135? That makes no sense. But that would explain some of the foolish decisions regarding at least some of the people let go. In a couple cases the knowledge lost to the company is staggering and will be sorely missed.

You are wrong about managers 80061. I know for a fact that up to the Director level at least there was no input. I'm not certain but I think the consulting firm did this with little or no input from management.

.....which of course means it often came down to office politics, who you pissed off, or who your manager wanted to protect.

I have a hard time believing an outside consultant made all of the decisions in a vacuum. I was laid off and I had the top performance scores in my group and great feedback from 360s. I was however one of the older people there. I had heard that the first pass was based on names provided by your group manager. Then Bain had to go through all of the metrics to balance out the laid off group (per age, sex, etc) to make sure Target would not be open to any lawsuit.
