It's so inconsistent it's stupid. In certain areas managers at the same level lost people while others did not. No rhyme or reason. It's one thing if they do it to the entire area, but selectively is unacceptable. Target needs to get their shit together.

And you say it like its some sort of war crime. 'Tom, did you hear? A PG17 is reporting to a...I can't even bring myself to say it..another PG17! Oh the humanity!' It's this pervasive obsession with levels, titles, and hierarchy that is so engrained in target culture. It's a cancer that has metastasized for far too long. You really aren't that special, no matter what you think your title or pay grade implies.
Hearing PG17s are reporting to PG17s in Distribution.
They are not eliminating those grades for managers. They are merely reorganizing so that managers who are supposed to be managing a team are actually doing so. If you had 2 direct reports, a "manager" you are not. So if you did manage to keep your job in that scenario, you may well find that you are no longer "managing" 2 people but are instead an individual contributor now.
Not true. Total BS.
Welcome to the real world Target.
This is decided on a departmental basis. This is definitely not the case in my area.
15 here. Not too concerned. More time for actual work.
staying group managers/SGM, but with A LOT more direct reports
What happens to group managers?
