Target ended my tenure with them today. I was sad and but still will be fine - I have been through a layoff before and am as tough as nails. I felt really sad though for my fellow sisters and brothers who faced this situation for the first time in their career.
It was heart breaking to see the anguish in their eyes and really difficult to try and convince them that the future holds bright prospects.
I would still like to wish target the best in the future.
I would also recommend trying to rebuild around a core of full-time team members who are loyal to the cause (like we were) and held close to our hearts the core ideals that this company stands for.
Outsourcing to contractors was our achilles heel and led to the layoffs concerning my team. Please do not let this continue, it's bad for the company. Please head our advise and stop this ship from sinking. Mangers/Directors/VPs - If given a choice between part time contractors and full-time Americans - I implore you to choose the latter.
