I highly recommend this program. They helped pay for my graphic design classes after I was laid off in 2009. Thanks to their financial support, I was able to learn new skills and get a much better job (with better pay!) than the one I was laid off from.

These services are completely worthless. They try to have job fairs, and they don't invite any companies. It's just a bunch of unemployed people trying to network. I'm sorry but I'd I'm unemployed and find a company that's hiring, I am not going to tell anyone that might get the job over me!

MN Job Partners for Dislocated Workers is a good program. It can provide assistance for a much longer term if needed than Right Management's service plan, which is short term. The grant amount available from the State of MN for Target employees last year was about $400,000, of which about 3/4 remained as of the layoff that occurred last fall. I had a very good counselor at that time, but several weeks ago he emailed those assigned to him saying that he had just been laid off, because "fewer Minnesota companies are laying off workers and people can begin again to have a sense of job security." He went on to say that fewer layoffs also mean fewer clients for organizations like theirs to serve. Since he was the last one hired, he was the first one let go. How ironic! Little did they know what was about to happen at Target. Hope he gets rehired.

Have taken advantage of this service in the past and I highly recommend it. Truly costs you nothing! There is also an opportunity to network with others in your position.
