Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Brian why don't you keep valuable people and get rid of HR? What exactly do they do?

HR is a boat anchor just like OE and the army of metrics propagandist. The layoffs suck, but had to be done. I felt guilty getting paid the last several years with our work outsourced and endlessly mapping out our processes for someone else to ignore.

Just as not all in Merchandising are buyers, not all in TTS are engineers, and not all in PD not all in HR are generalists tasked with representing a client group. There are various areas and roles within HR that will also be affected. There are many valuable people, HR or otherwise, that will be let go this week. Pointing the finger, downplaying others' value, and causing rifts among those affected is counterproductive. Instead, try supporting those around you.

Agreed. I went to HR with an issue between my boss and myself. After a couple of minutes it was pretty clear to me that HR was just a shill for management. HR is great if you want to talk benefits but a bunch of charlatans if you have an issue.

Absolutely right. HR in any company is NOT there to protect you. They are there only to protect the company. Do not trust them. Anything you tell them goes in your file.

"Ms Working Stiff" is totally right. HR is there to protect Target from getting sued. I've experienced it. I will NEVER go to HR at Target for "help" EVER again. My life was made HELL for years afterwards. In the end the person I tried to report or get away from ended up getting fired. Shocker.

I'm sorry to say, the HRs of our parents and grandparents maybe helped the "little hardworking people," nope, not these days, HR's the slaves of management.HR will nods and smiles and listens to TM's concerns, and then HR will turns around and "investigate" the TM and writes him/her up on some bogus charges, it could be anything. It's downright silly sad.

Seriously, why go after any area at all? Enough of the "my position is more important than yours" talk. HR will get hit tomorrow - you can bet on it. 100%. So that should make you happy, ok?

How would you like if everyone said they should get rid of all the jobs but yours? Why do you have to be such a hater. This sucks for everyone
