Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Layoff Criteria

So heard some rumors they were basing it off of review scores hence why this isn't happening until reviews are complete... The thing is the number is completely useless and makes no sense to me. You start a new role or get promoted and you basically reset back to a lower score for that role. hmmmmmm.....

The review scores are a farce. Your review score is decided by October by management as part of talent and next year planning. By the time they are asking for your "input", things are pretty well nailed down.

I've heard (but have not confirmed) that it's illegal to use review scores as criteria. But I am hearing that it's based off position, pay, and tenure. Therefore, shame on us for getting raises, promotions, and staying at Target more than a couple years.

Review scores are decided in December when LOPs do TPAs. Judging from some of the people who have been let go, I highly doubt this layoff has anything to do with reviews. There is overall belt tightening going on and it will be felt across many levels. Unfortunately some great people will be let go. I hope the best for everyone involved. Uncertanty is too scary.

It tended to run on a lifo model in the past

Supposedly can't be using review scores for 2014 as criteria due to team members not havin seen thei final scores. Scores over a multi year period makes sense, but then what about the folks that have been at Target for less than a couple years? Don't really think this is going to be used. Instead, positions are likely being determined as relevant or redundant.

I hope it isn't off of scores for the last couple years...'cause then the same "coffee status'ing" people will remain.

It's based off average score over a few years and tenure.

Makes sense. You don't need a review to get a review score. You basically just get a review score, and then your review is you saying "This is what I think my review score is!" and then your manager saying "this is what is is", and justifying it. Althewhile it was preordained by another meeting wherin it was decided there will be this many scores, and that many scores, and sucks to be these people, because no matter what, they are getting the bad scores.

The difference here is, the review process is dispensed with. You're not going to need your review. Your position has been made redundant. But your score already exists.
