I left Target awhile back and recruiters have been calling me left and right this week simply because I have my recent Target experience listed on my LinkedIn profile and they are well aware of good people leaving Target and trying too snatch them up. Good luck to all of you impacted. It's a hard mental adjustment but you'll find after awhile you get through it and Life is good again. LLAP

Yes, it will get you interviews based on your profile along. I've had three in the last week alone, two of which jobs I will seriously consider. And no, I have absolutely no affiliation to LinkedIn. I am simply a grateful user of the free service. Combine LinkedIn with personal networking and you'll be ahead of the pack finding your next role. @78866, 78772, 78718, 78761 I suspect you may be part of Target's problem if you don't understand the value of social networking and the internet. Target was way late to the current e-commerce technology that is driving retail.
I've been in recruiting for 15 years, half of those with TGT. Finding a job and building a career is about NETWORKING and Linkedin is a very good tool (albeit just one tool) to do that. If you don't have an appropriate and updated LI page, you may find a job but it's going to take you much longer and you'll have to work much harder to make the connections you'll need to make in order to land that job. LI is the first place that recruiters and hiring managers go when researching candidates. If you think that LI is not an important tool in your job hunting, you're likely still sending hard copy resume's via snail mail.
Yeah you enjoy linked in, monster and all those other sites. Having a profile will NOT get you job interviews.
After four years my last day at Target was last Wednesday, I put my notice in before news of the layoffs and I found my current job on LinkedIn so it is a great tool to reach out to recruiters, see what jobs companies are really trying to hire for, and at least get your foot in the door.
The Container Store is opening DT. Job fair this afternoon. LOL
HA! - Don't expect to find a job without a well written and complete LinkedIN page. I have recruited for all kinds of positions and I have based who I will and will not meet with on their Linkedin page. Good luck
Anonymous78729 - you're an idiot and clearly have never worked outside of Target - Linkedin is how even Target finds people, validates resumes and looks for connections.
LinkedIn is a great resource and all major employers have a strong presence there. It's one of the principal recruiting tools today. You need to get with the times or prepare to be left behind.
No kick back paid for my message. I'm just someone who used LinkedIn as a tool to find my next opportunity after leaving Target recently.
There's no reason to get cranky because you don't use or understand LinkedIn. MANY people have been hired via LinkedIn. "Stupid Social Media?" That comment and tone instantly disqualifies you as a candidate if I'm assembling a team.
Quit touting LinkedIn. Are they paying you a kickback or something? It's stupid social media that real employers don't use. If you want to go with a headhunter, have fun with that one....they are dime a dozen and bring ZERO to the table that you can't do on your own and more efficiently.
God should slow down!
There's life after Target and outside Target. God speeds ya'all..
