There were always too many inexperienced hires for the last ten years. Time to cut the fat.

Target is not a grey hair company! I started greying in my late 20 and by mid 30s I was told more then once by managers that Target was not for grey hairs so I left before I hit 40 on my accord. Target defiantly doesn't like its older more experienced work force!
50! You are done by 40 at the latest.
Target was way too top heavy in management. Most of the management do nothing but tell the grunt workers what to do.
they were taking home a very sizable check for not really doing anything.
this is nothing new to target. Just more people than usual. Has anyone mentioned that once you hit 50 your done there?
Too bad a lot of these people were not let go and instead it was done with a dartboard. The consultants sure could not hit the bullseye. Too many good people gone that actually worked their tails off.
The evidence backs up your statement. Bloated hiring was rampant. It was almost as if Target was trying to recreate college dorm groups for young ladies fresh from college and needing jobs that fit their college experience. I have seen many teams, and am familiar with the hiring practices that went in to staffing them.
Let's get real! You can not run a Retail Corporation with such a bloated staff in which people can't even figure out what work all the others actually do.
