Have heard from a VP that today was it for the immediate future; no other cuts planned for this week.

1700 gone, plus 1400 open positions terminated = 3100 spots. When Target said "several thousand jobs" would be cut, they meant it, and this number sure seems close to spot on.

Hopefully, they realize that uncertainty in future employment prospects is a sure fire way to trigger significant "brain drain," and this deep cut was/is the only one planned. But it would certainly be nice to see an announcement to that effect.

Nobody knows. Anyone shouting out exact departments left to be let go is just speculating… which is most of this board anyhow.

Anyone know the total headcount thus far today?

Well, yes and no. What's likely to happen is that raises and other bonuses for the rest are going to be frozen in a "be lucky you have a job" move, which will lead to whoever can to look for a better gig elsewhere. So there will be a secondary wave of people leaving over the next 3-6 months.
