Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

What would happen if all of us who own Target stock in our 401k just went online tomorrow and dumped it.

Imagine the message that would send. We are shareholders. We should have a voice in how this company is run.

@Anonymous77954. You do not understand: unions or working class, but it sounds like you have the 'pretentious attitude' down quite well....sprinkled with ignorance that is......see you in the great hall!

Really, OP you should not only take a math class, but enroll in english/grammar whilst you are at it.....you don't understand the concept of sarcasm. look it up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarcasm If you were truly being sarcastic, you would have said something like this......Gee, I'm sure glad i chose not to dump all my target stock last week, because my future looks bright given the events of this week! NOW THAT"S SARCASM! On a side note..... You are all pathetic whiney-ass entitlement brats. Most...(not all) but most of you deserve the cuts that are coming to you.....you will be better off in the end...it will force you to grow up.....although you love target, the culture has done you NO favours...in fact it is to your detriment. Target could use some 'dicks' in their culture..meaning people who aren't afraid to speak the truth..Maybe that's why you all don't like Brian Cornell.....he's probably the biggest dick you've ever met and you're scared to death of him.....real leaders take the bull by the horns and if you meet a real dick, you take the bull by the balls.......when's the last time you heard some one at target give an honest opinion (and providing closed door feedback isn't what I mean). that culture is rampant with 'being PC'...I have always been confused how everyone at Tgt claims they are strong leaders yet, they are so 'offended' by frank words. saying 'no' at target in an open meeting is like spooking the timid horses at the OK corral....thats not a leader...thats a pussy. Pull on your big boy/big girl pants and grow a pair.....and if your such a feminist, then grow a pair of vaginas.......rest assured, the next job you land isn't going to be sugar coated with 'so great to see you' and 'OMG your shoes are so cute' etc. etc. so growing a little thick skin will maybe make you look like you are older than 25, and if you are really lucky, it will make you act like you are older than 18. oh and one more thing.....VOTE REPUBLICAN!

Target Corp would most likely be more than happy to buy out back

I saw it was sarcasm and it made me laugh. to the person being a jerk, what is wrong with a WE mentality? If we had the balls to have a union, that WE mentality would have served Target well. Of course, that would be way too WORKING CLASS for the pretentious attitude in Minneapolis.

Actually, when I posted it, it was in utter sarcasm. I'm probably one of the only people in my department who has experience in the financial field. Being an asshole to others on this feed just plays into how our company has become. You get a great team card for being a self righteous dick. well done. It's called sarcasm.

It's clear the OP is a very innocent young democrat with a 'we' mindset. This post is pretty special in my mind....thinking that the willing employees own enough stock aggregated to actually influence the stock price by selling it....it's rather cute if you ask me.

Hey idiot. Wake up and count the stock that has been released to the open/closed market.....the employees own a sliver of shares as part of the whole.

Take a business class and get with it. This is corporate America not some political sit-in at the university! If you want that kind of job I hear Starbucks is hiring. Heavens knows you have spent many hours there 'going to coffee'.

But like I said....so cute....wanna be DMM at Target? You're certainly young and stupid enough....

First of all, owning stock as part of your 401k as an employee is incredibly stupid...talk about putting all your eggs in one basket. The benefits folks don't reccomend this, so get rid of it ASAP!! Secondly, the amount of stock that employees own through their 401ks is pretty small, so I don't think it would do much.

Shares might decline a bit intraday, but your shares would be consumed by daily trading volume (4.4MM) and you would only manage to sell your shares at a discount to what the market values TGT shares at overall.

tldr; you would lose money.

Ha ha! I see what you are saying! I don't think the person posting is inciting stock fraud, it seems more like an example to remind us that we do own the company. A Target tea party dumped in the Mississippi...if only it would work.

No, its not fraud at all like you were trained. Might want to retake that course. Brian Cornell publicly announced thousands would let go. publications were provided info about cuts within weeks. What inside information do you think we have? It is fully in a 401k shareholder rights to change their Target stock allocations. Especially, if you think share prices will decline. Might want to think about that though...50/50 that this is viewed favorably.

Target stock is heavily institutional owned so we will just make their day for another bull day of buying stocks dump by employees.

Isn't that the very stock fraud we just all had to take training against doing? Making stock changes when we know something is coming?

Well then BC would have to do something to raise the stock price so expect more layoffs.
