Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

What did Cornell do this weekend?

I wonder what Cornell did this weekend? I am betting that he had a much better weekend than most of us..... And I am sure his week will go better than ours.

You need to have strong psychopathic traits to repeatedly seek engagements that revolve around ruining lives of people - I do understand the 'let's get the company on track' part, but at the same time, it takes a certain kind of person to seek engagements like this

He was hired to do a job...and he's doing it. just as all tgt team members were hired to do a job. unfortunately the culture and bloating turned the job into a lifestyle and so now the undoing must happen. isn't it interesting that when you read all the things people are going to miss...none of them say they are going to miss the emails, and the meetings and the politics and the deadlines and the self-reviews, and the projects and the development plans etc etc. etc. But they will miss the coffees, and the GTKY's and the people, and the teamwork.......so what does anyone really do for a real job at target? hard to define right? This is exactly why the CEO is making cuts.....on a philosophical level.... if you simplify things and keep your job in scope of your entire life, it doesn't define you and it's not who you are...its simply a part of your overall accomplishments. if you leave it at that, then being laid off just brings you another opportunity. If you think the CEO thinks he's going to be at tgt forever, think again. look at his track record, he is know for mopping up messes...he will mop up this one then move on. he's not letting his job define who he is...neither should you.

76564: exactly. And to reel it back to the first reply, a soulless corporate goon that has a history of being brought in to shitcan people for an 8 figure bonus from the board probably gets off on the misery.

I am certain that this is not bothering him in the least. I just shake my head when I hear of new CEO's chopping heads almost right away. A company cannot chop its way back to prosperity. Cornell is NOT a true leader. Any monkey can come in and just chop away.

He may not be enjoying it, but I bet it doesn't bother him either. No one who cares about people specializes in layoffs.

Cornell isn't enjoying this. It's a necessary evil to remove the bloat. Anyone with a college degree and a semblance of intelligence can realize that (sorry Merch).

Better question: what did 3G do this weekend? He made/allowed the mess. BC's job is to clean up the mess.
