there are 3 people on my team whose lync status just says "offline"..whereas everyone else's will say "offline - 2 days" i've never seen it look like that. do you think it means something?

Look for "Presence Unknown", thats more of an indicator that an AD account was disabled.
A lot of people disable their Lyncs over the weekend, myself included. A lot of people with Macs turn off the auto sign in. This is nothing to worry about.
I would not stress out about it. People have been reporting strange things happening last week and this weekend, but there is a few IT guys on this board who are telling us that it's not related. I would be really surprised if they went the tech route to eliminate access to anyone. I think they will disable your Active Domain status first, right after they tell you that you are let go, and everything else will stop working immediately.
