Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

The Company Formerly Known As Target - change the name

Let's face it. Target no longer exists. I left awhile back after many years because the company I loved had become something I no longer recognized. There is something that is a sad shadow of what was a wonderful company for 50 years, but whatever it is, it's not Target.

I'm sorry to know what everyone still there is experiencing. From the outside it sure sounds like this whole thing could have been communicated and handled with more compassion. I'll be thinking of you this week. Do know, like others have said, there is Life after Target and it's a good one even though it may not feel like it for awhile. LLAP

Good for you, Brian. A trademark doesn't make a company. People make a company. And sure, the trademark may rise like a Phoenix but that doesn't make it the same company I loved and was loyal to for many years. There is no "we" in what may come back. Don't you get that thousands of people have lost or are losing their jobs and won't be coming back?

Also, remember Montgomery Wards, Woolworths, Ben Franklin? Barely, right? Don't get too hopeful you'll recover the brand. I believe you are WAY TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE on multi channel and ecommerce. And I'm guessing instocks will tank with the dramatic cuts coming before things get better. Even now it's amazing how many times I have to go somewhere else because Target is out of a basic staple.

Target is a brand! A valuable and globally recognized brand. Most great brands are challenged through times, and many of them recover. Think in terms of Apple in 1998, Disney before Michael Eisner, Nike during the catastrophic sales drop in 1984 and Supply Chain meltdown in 2000. We will be back.
