I am not a target employee, but I'm very close to some of you. I live in the Twin Cities and I have chosen Target over other alternatives over and over because I have friends/family that work there. I know I'm not the only one. Let's friends and family of Target employees unite and show corporate what we think of them letting go all our friends for decisions that were so above them. I am making a personal decision of stop buying at Target for at least the rest of 2015, this is the only way that I can influence or show my discontent over this situation. Stay strong everybody

Bad leadership and destroying Target's moral will not help anything either. The Target culture is what built Target to what the brand is today. It was the vision and the attitude to keep going. Coming in and changing the way the ship operates completely is stupid. Yes, there could have been some trimming, but that many layoffs? All the board wants is good numbers to fatten their own wallet while the minions turn the crank at HQ. You can even see it in the stores the last couple years. The products aren't as unique, the staff are questioned every single time they walk close to another red shirt and it's quieter than I've ever seen it. The moral smells bad as do the numbers. Boycotting is not an ideal approach but since the only thing they care about is money at the top, the only way to get their attention is through money. Boycotting with a cause to shave off Sr. level management will be the best way to save and grow Target in the long run. You end up with fresh ideas and people excited to grow Target. You get rid of the stale, money hungry, unimaginative, number seeking, careless, top heavy positions that are slowly sinking the boat.
Your post makes no sense as statements of supporting Target people and boycotting Target when it comes to purchases are contradictory. Go back to the writing board, come up with something that makes sense and post again.
You realize this is the absolute least helpful thing you could do, right? If you are truly a supporter of the community you will want to see Target flourish again
I personally do. I work for a competitor. We want your sales and we'll take your non-tainted talent too. Sink Target, sink.
Customer, won't this perpetuate the situation?
Way to be part of the bigger problem, and not part of the solution...
You boycotting Target is just going to lead to more people being laid off. You know how you can support the people who are being laid off? Let them talk to you. Offer to help connect them with people you know who are hiring. Use your skills to spruce up their resume or LinkedIn profile. A public boycott of Target with the layoffs being the motivator will just increase the number of.people laid off.
76972 is right. As angry as you may be, do you want to see more people laid off?
What about your family/friends who will remain Target employees? And by all accounts there's an 80%-90% chance that they will remain...
