In past layoffs, has the location of the offline conference rooms meant anything?

Not really.
With the eCommerce team layoffs at the end of 2013, everyone in Minneapolis was invited to one of two rooms, one on the team's floor and one on CC-2. Everyone on the team's floor room was let go, and the others weren't. There was also security up on the floor about an hour or two prior to the meetings.
