Attrition is a fact of life at any company, but has been somewhat more notable at Target this past year with lowered morale, dissatisfaction with the Brooklyn Park move, and an improving job market. Comsider that when Target lays off 3-4k now, they expect further (likely accelerated) attrition on top of that. And it's not like they plan on a hiring binge right after the layoffs to account for this, knowing how foolish that would look. The plan or expectation is likely to be minus 5k+ positions by the end of 2015.

With the job market doing well, I wonder how hard it will be for Target to keep most of the top talent when the dust settles from the layoffs
Attrition = voluntarily leaving the company.

Oh, Before it's 4k. Now it's 5K. Go on, keep jerking that chain. With any luck, it will be 10K before the hour is over. Actually, I heard from a reliable source that Target is laying off everybody but Brian.
