Thoughts on current policy of Business Class travel vs. Coach

What do people think about the fact that we still allow all International travel to be Business Class at this pt in time. Many tickets are close to $6K or more per tkt while people are going to be laid-off?

Also, the first class trips are typically paid for with the miles no one gets to keep. I traveled to Japan and that's how those tickets were paid for. It was about $6k if paid in cash though.

I go to China and trudge through factories for two weeks at a time. My 5 star hotel costs $136/night converted. By the time I go home, the meal on the plane is the best thing I've eaten in two weeks. Plus my 4 hour layover in Japan is made a lot more comfortable in the lounge. I'd cut trips before asking anyone to travel coach.

There is so much money wasted at this company. Staying in 5 star hotels, all the "parties" and events the marketing team throws. Sorry, it doesn't really create buzz. What a joke.

Have you tried flying 24 hours to India on coach? Also, once you hit 50, your joints get pulverized in coach even on regional flights. Just saying, you ought to try it first and then form an opinion, there is no glamour in international travel, period.

Yeah I always thought this was total BS. All management has ever done it complain about budget and get upset if we buy a sample or two, but they go to Europe three times a year and fly first class.
