All this talk about putting money into Digital and how crucial it is, but haven't been told we're safe. Assume we're not. It's a pretty small community in the Twin Cities and word gets around fast. If they screw this group over, it will be next to impossible to attract and keep talent. But that would be just the latest in a string of many, many unforced errors for Target.

75576: can you explain what you're basing this on?
Managers and Group Managers will be laid off
Too much internal promotion in that group led to some really lackluster creative leadership, and worse, there's lots of needless duplication of roles with other teams in Target. If it's across the board, the underperforming managers can surely stand to take a hike. The slack will taken up by the foot soldiers and vendors; that's what they do anyway.
If you are engineering in .com I think you are likely safe. Not if you are pm, test, other non-eng roles. TTS eng role is the safest role in the company right now (besides Brian's that is)
Money always speaks, just imagine if they couldn't find local talent or candidates relocating, they always can use telecommute option, eg., look at UHG.
Not to be harsh but they are not looking at your initiative but more or less who can fulfill that initiative. Look at Mike Hockenberry he was a VP in Health and Beauty and he was the go to guy for Made to Matter. He brought people into the organization for this key initiative and he was let go this week. We are not names or people we are strictly a number that can go away. Having gone through layoffs in the past prepare that you are the one going. If you stay that's awesome, but think of the sheer numbers that are rumored to be going. You need to have a plan. Believe me I have no clue of my future but I have a plan. Best of luck :)
