Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

HQ vs. Stores

I'm fairly new, hired straight from school almost two years ago. Can someone help me understand the tension between HQ and Stores. Thank you!

Stores workers have a more manual labor intensive/rigorous job than most HQ workers. HQ workers make higher level decisions, and don't care about one store. If there were no stores, HQ would have no point. If there was no HQ, most stores would selfishly prioritize themselves and #1. Stores are much larger (more employees) than HQ, so they have always had to focus on efficiency and cost optimization.HQ has a lot of pointless jobs. Stores thinks that all HQ jobs are pointless, because some jobs don't tie directly to stores. Also stores managers are older. They don't realize that the managers in HQ are old too. They assume kids run all of Target. In short, people are dumb.

It's not specific to Target. Watch Undercover Boss a few times and you'll get it.
