Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Dear Target Board Members

Is this how a company should be run? Are you happy that thousands of employees are worried about their future with Target? Are you happy that your new CEO has a history of cutting employees, for a short-term gain in profitability, while your long-term employees are twisting in the wind? Your new CEO will DEMAND a big bonus for this. He cut costs, just like you wanted. But at what cost?

I wished when my teachers asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up in 1st grade, instead of saying I wanted to be a firefighter, I should have said, I wanted to grow up to be a cutthroat CEO that eliminates thousands of jobs, so I can personally benefits with millions in profit for myself while thousands of people with thousands more families and friends and the communities suffer financially greatly. Nah. My 1st grade self is right all along, I rather work for a living and contribute to society, "I wannabe a fireman."

Why don't people understand the nature of business???? I get being angry, but let's be realistic too. If there are more efficient ways to get to the finish line, you do it!

If you think the company owes you something more than paycheck every two weeks you're delusional.

Anonymous74807: I am NOT saying that HQ should be not downsized, I am saying the whole approach is wrong. This whole approach is wrong. Let your employees see your plan, and if they don't fit into the plan, they will leave. The CEO is responsible for more than cutting costs...any monkey can do that. But to let at least 15,000 people who work in downtown Mpls fretting over the few weeks, to wonder if they fit into the plan or not, is just dead wrong. And Anonymous74807: you must be a store employee. There is so much hatred between stores and HQ it is amazing.

Well said, dont you read the posts, there's at least 3x more tms than needed to do a job. And im not counting india which is really just a make work effort for us, everything got done over, but you couldnt tell anyone, success was automating your job and what ever the results were celebrate it.I left on my own i lost repect for a management that didnt see the fat and cut sooner. The mantra was the longer you work there, the dumber you get. No regrets and none of this stupid vindictiv tirad. If you are so sure your way is better, go start a business

Dear Anonymous74795: If you agree with the way the new CEO is cutting costs, you are an asshole. There are better ways.

This is exactly why he was hired. Yes it sucks that so many will be out of a job but it's for the greater good of the company. People have such a hard time accepting the fact they are just a number and this business. Yes, your feelings are hurt but you'll get over it. Target isn't a perfect company, move on.
