Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

It's time to turn up the heat

I am NOT looking for anything vulgar or repulsive. But for those who have Twitter accounts, now is the time to Tweet, and re-Tweet how horrible it is to work at Target. Don't do anything that will get you into any sort of legal mess. But if you work for Target, are married to a Target employee, or shop at Target on a regular basis, NOW is the time to turn up the heat on your CEO and make him change his decision. If you feel that you can't shop at Target anymore, tell the CEO that, and then shop at Walmart or Cub tomorrow. And then post exactly how much money Target lost due to the new CEO. Take a pic of the receipt and post it to Twitter and tell the CEO his decision cost Target XXX amount of dollars. If you don't speak, your voice won't be heard.

As angry as you may be, don't do anything stupid on your way out the door. It's a small community in the Twin Cities and it's amazing how the networks work. It might not happen soon, but eventually a former manager may be approached by someone looking to hire you and get an "off the record" recommendation. If you go out with class it will work in your favor. Burn this mother down, and it can come back to haunt you. It's your choice.

Just don't shop at the crap hole no more. I use to spend an average of $500 a month. I havent shopped there in over a year, since they gave us the shaft. Best thing to do is don't shop there and short the stock. Some put options can make a lot of money right now.

Yes, any decision CAN be reversed. However, a decision that will help the bottom line so drastically would be difficult, if not impossible, to reverse. You only have to look at the stock price to know that Wallstreet is buying into the layoffs and the $2B re-investmemt. NOT cutting (which IS needed) will not help the company fight or survive. You may not agree with the method of execution, but the decision points that have led us here cannot be argued. We are bloated. We are heavy. We need to be trimmed and streamlined to survive. And yes, I'm most likely being cut as well. Hpwever, I'd like my 401k - which has a heavy reliance on TGT stock - to remain healthy and have a long life. If you have skills, don't sweat it.

Dear Anonymous75003: Any decision can be changed. ANY DECISION. See Target Canada for evidence. If anybody is reading this blog tonight, please express, in all very professional terms how upset you are, and if you will shop at Target again. If the reply is great, Target may re-consider. If the reply is poor, Target will lay off at least 2,000 people. The choice is the employees, not mine.

Decision has already been made; all that remains is execution. This ain't some sort of revolution!

Dear Anonymous74996: Totally false. I am not suggesting that people lie. Or spread rumors. Or hedge on facts. Just state their opinion. Opinions, without bias, is how this country was created. All a Twitter account needs to state is: "Please reconsider where you are shopping. Target Corporation does not believe in certain values that are important to its workers. There are other options"

Dear Anonymous74991: It all depends on how the social media is written. You are another HR mouthpiece wannabe or worse. If those people who work at Target want to have a voice in saving their jobs, then they have to let their voices, or Tweets, be heard. And it is a national voice. A Tweet in Mpls about some shopper seeing maggots in ground beef will resonate with shoppers all around the U.S. And they should do it now and flood Twitter.

That's a great way to make you unhireable. No new employer will want anything to do with you.

I agree with 74982. Decisions have been made and no amount of social media is going to change that. Any negative comments will be written off as disgruntled x employees.

Dear Anonymous74982: Hope you aren't in metrics or customer recognition. You are the delusional worker. Any company can be brought down through social media. Look...it is 4:47pm on a Friday afternoon. I thought all HR mouthpieces would be home by now. This is not a delusional post. If you don't think Target is doing the right thing, flood Twitter will your comments, NOW. And encourage all your friends and followers to re-Tweet and re-Tweet, etc.
