Fast forward 1-2 years and I think those that survived multiple rounds of cuts and doing more with less will be the biggest victims. There will be lots of silent victims who give up and leave with no severance, no public support. 3-4 years down the roadhopefully the company will be a success stories with a healthy culture. To those of you that hang on i wish you well and hope you can fix the company i used to love.

Amen. Sticking around could be as miserable as being laid off.
Um...welcome to the real world. Most successful organizations are not structured like Target with the never ending layers of "leadership" levels. Time in role will and should increase exponentially. Being a buyer or people manager at 26 years old is very uncommon elsewhere. Target is going to have to change their up or out mentality, but motivate and reward in other ways that don't always involve talking about "your next move" as the only carrot in the toolbox.
I agree as well, but worry that if many of the cuts happen to flatten the organization ( reduce managers and layers), the chance of promotion gets even lower than it has been. Today, the only way you get a raise is by getting promoted. If there are even fewer opportunities for promotion, how do we keep talent?
Agreed...this is what I've wished for every year during BTS. Careful what you wish for. But yes, Target needs this! (Coming from someone who has already been laid off).
