What would happen if I am slated for layoffs next week but I am not present and am on a sick leave? Anyone?

Cannot avoid it, they have a schedule to follow and will cut you regardless. You'll get a phone call at hour home phone, your cell. They will FedEx you a note as schedule time to sign papers.
I hear they will do a phone call to inform you and will leave a voicemail if you don't answer. I heard this happen for those who were out on vacation during layoff rounds in the past.
They would still lay you off, you do not have to be physically present to be cut. I've seen this happen.
