I read somewhere on this forum that Friday is going to be the day for the start of mass layoffs? Any news yet?

There are no best practices, there are only leading practices
To 74759 re: Best Practices - It's a new day at TGT, this isn't the same place it was... today could be a Red Wedding. Unhappy hour is probably already underway at Brit's and The Local.
Our director was let go today (too small of a department to say where). I heard some rumblings about Directors in Distributuon being let go today as well, but can't confirm.
My team just got a private team announcements set up this afternoon.
In general it is not considered HR 'best practice' to lay people off on Fridays. In my experience Target has generally followed this rule so I would be surprised if we see anything significant before Tuesday. From a psychology standpoint, everyone is braced for Tuesday's bloodbath so that's probably the best day to get the ball rolling as everyone will be packing up on Monday.
I remember seeing the same thing, but haven't heard of any layoffs today?
