Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Maybe about time downtown fashionistas Face reality and their arrogance towards store side.

Worked store side and listened constantly to the sorority sisters and frat boys talk about when they can get to HQ so they can wear stylish clothes and pumps where stores were just an a step up to the real world of downtown target corp. funny never knew a corporate area that actually brought in cash like store side. We've been getting f'd at store level asking to do more and more with less while corporate side has grown while adding zero sales to the company. Maybe you all can come down and work as temps for Black Friday sale that you all thought was such a brilliant concept to open on thanksgiving eve . Maybe you can finally have some empathy for the cuts we have endured at store level the past years. Funny target didn't make top companies to work for in Fortune magazine. Wonder why?

Hey- 16 yr Target vet here. HQ does not hate the stores. My heart goes out to you guys.. especially when you deal with angry guests. Trust me. Product, strategies, signing, fixtures, cartwheel offers, flex fulfillment, light bulbs, HVAC contractors, garbage service, benefits enrollment, circulars, mobile push notifications, food sampling, Target APPs, toilet paper for restrooms don't fall from the sky. We have to bust our ass and constantly react to competition, demand, raw material costs, legislation, laws, supply chain issues every week. You only see 1/2 of the retail equation my friend. Not saying it's harder or easier.

Regarding black friday, many of us ARE in the store. When you spend XXX million dollars on big bets, you bet we are in the stores and every one of our competitors.

If you are so angry, please leave and go to Wall-Mart. You're not the brand I want representing our stores.

Store side probably is safe from this for the most part. They endured extreme cuts over the last couple years at the leader levels. But to hear the store side complain about being asked to do more with less is hogwash. The stores had gotten overweight and needed trimming just like HQ needs now. The worst part in all of this is that so many people are going to lose their jobs and few have any idea if it will be them. Hopefully we can all stop speculating soon.

The store side is FAR from being safe from this. This is only the beginning...

I'm sorry, and what makes you think the "store side" is safe from any of this? Ignorance isn't always bliss...

Let's not get bitter. No one "deserves" this. Just remember that these are real people. Real people who matter to someone. Differing values and paths shouldn't birth such scorn. Except for Buyers. Buyers are the worst.

Whoever wrote this entry, stay away until you've reached some level of emotional maturity. This isn't dear diary and some of us want to read and write about developments of actual substance regarding Target corp.
