Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Thoughts on PD&D?

We've been told in the past we are safe because we try to stay lean but I don't feel safe at all. Our vendors can get product on the shelf without us, and buyers can buy without us. I wonder if they'll do away with the whole department. But then again, one of Cornell's priorities is Style...

Yes, one of the corporate initiatives is Style. Nonetheless, all areas will be affected, including PD&D. Positions of duplication and redundancy will be eliminated and consolidated. No one thought they'd ever go back to one DMM running both NIT and BBBG, but if the DMM is expected to cover that much scope, then support partners will be expected to as well...

Sorry, if we're cutting 25% of HQ, the low level "doers" aren't safe. There aren't enough VPs, Directors and KMs to even get close to those numbers. VPs are just going first.

Op based on the priorities I think pdd won't be hot as hard as other areas but I think we will get hit, I think no area at target is safe. As far as pdd goes, I think it's going to come down to a large restructure and re org to better align duplicative workload, aka align bbbg and nit and merge teams and cut the fat. I agree that our jobs could be sent to the vendors but part of what distinguishes target is style and the fact that it is designed in house, if they send it all back to the vendors they will incur higher costs, lower pmu and less guest friendly designs. the other thing I would add is it seems they are cutting higher paid positions first so like any other part of the company it's most likely they won't lay off as many of the doers but more likey the people who don't touch te product as they may be seen as added layers to the process (ie design managers, directors, ect)

73597 - Not OP, but in the financial call yesterday he outlined four priorities with Target moving forward. Style, Kids, Wellness, and __. I don't remember the last one, sorry.
