It's a certainty they already know who's staying and going, why not tell people asap so they can move on and not have to check layoffs.com for updates on their livelihood. Also how does this wait help business???

Probably logistics. Only so much HR to go around.
100% agree. I don't think the majority of my team got ANYTHING done today.
Just carnage. Decimating morale and destroying whatever is left of the culture. Whoever is left will have to rebuild everything from the ground up.
