I know that is a gross oversimplification, yet the overhead of such a huge staff must be insane. I feel bad for those losing thir jobs, yet I wonder how Target became so bloated.

Yes there are seriously several thousand people in TTS, however a minority of them are the ones who actually do the IT work. The rest are paper pushers and layers of management and people who say things to sound like theyre smart. Also we;re very heavy offshore because the previous idiot executives thought that would save money somehow.
Don't get me started. Those CoEs are centers of excess. If you's shave 1/3 of that workforce you would still have bandwidth. It is sad, yes. But they are doing the right thing in TTS. Target grew to become a complacent place with arrogant people thinking that just because their revenue is 70 billion dollars a year, nothing can't happen. Poor of those arrogant complacent that will look for a job, because they will only aspire to become junior analysts at other companies.

Well there are 2.5 50k ppl at Target overall. As everywhere at Target in India as well people learnt that they need to expand their omega if they need to move up the ranks and I know many who did and then the people they hired had no work and were either facebooking or whiling away time. The fun part is to see those leaders' red tense faces now because they know they faked it to the top and that won't get them a job easily outside of target
