Having .com Buyers and store Buyers seems a little redundant, but really two different jobs considering .com Buyers have a different skill set. Any word on the fate of any type of buyer?

I have a friend that recently moved into a .com buyer role and is "in training". She said the training class has 50+ new buyers in it. Why bring all those in if layoffs are looming? Seems odd.
I heard they are working on a number of consolidations, however, the skills are different indeed
