Hard tough decisions... but 72951 is 150% true ! How many levels of management are there between the folks that actually do the work and the folks that make the decisions.. PG 15, 17, Group Mgr, Sr Group Manager, Director, Sr Director...That's a ton of unnecessary oversight !!!!!!!!!! and each level making over 100K. Yikes.

Over 10 years at Target and never did I see the BTS make a difference.
72954 - sadly I think these decisions are fueled more by wanting to meet investor expectations and morale while considerations about productivity are barely a distant second and third, if that.
I hope we are still at target to see the resukts... ;)
There is no guarantee that any of these strategic plans will work. Sure, they are cleaning up a mess, but are they creating an even bigger one? You can't cut your way to success.
As if the BTS even matters or does anything.
79251 you would be correct. Not everyone gives 100%. The problem is HR isn't going to take that into consideration and a lot of good people will be let go and crappy 40 percenters (if that) will be left with jobs.
Agreed, productivity will be decreased due to emotional anxiety!
Let's just wait and see what kind of "good decisions" are made with these cuts. In the meantime, Brian & Co have made a whole lot of good people very nervous and tanked productivity until the next wave of layoffs is announced.
Why? Because Target is finally making good decisions to return back to profitability? This was a deep hole dug by Gregg and Friends, now it needs to be fixed so we don't become the next K-mart, Montgemery Ward, Circuit City, etc. look around at your team, dept, pyramid, you can't honestly say everyone gives 100% effort.
