Who is in the room when you are being told your position has been eliminated? Do you get to talk to your boss? Thanks!

When I was let go a year ago I was brought into a room with my manager, an HR rep I'd never met before and via a video conference bridge one of my peers and another HR rep. The manager read a statement and then answered any questions they could. HR followed up with me individually about an hour later. My direct reports were told in another room with a manager from within our department along with HR.
From a risk and confidentiality prospective: your leader does not even know you are affected until 1-2 hours before or after you being informed.
Boss would not be there as there is a chance of him getting beaten up :-)
At HQ in Minneapolis people were brought into a room with the VP who read from a statement....then they had about an hour to sit around until meeting with HR to get their package. During that time they packed, said goodbyes, etc. Super awkward and sad for all involved.
In Target India..people were called into a room and then they were just asked to pack up in 5 mins and leave. There were cabs downstairs to drop people home and there was an ambulance as well in case of any emergency. You will get to talk to your boss because high probability that if you are out your boss would be on his way out too, atleast that's what happened last time around.
Sorry *you will get a phone call
You don't get pulled into a room. They call you will get a phone call. I don't know what the exit process looks like though.
