Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

You are wrong with your assessment of 1700 people to be laid off. It is more like 3,000. It is all of the areas you specified, but deeper. 100 stores are closing. AND NO new stores opening this year.

Reply to Anonymous71775. That growth in same store sales is weak, especially when you consider that Target Canada has been purged from all store analysis. Target is NOT growing. Amazon is growing. Costco is growing. Walmart is growing, and handing out wage increases. Target. Target is stagnant at best, and has already said they are NOT going to match salary increases at Walmart. Target is dying a slow retail death. It's the death of losing 10 customers a day. Not bleeding out....buy dying all the way.

I'm no great fan of Target my position was previously eliminated. That said I don't see any facts to support a sky is falling assessment of US stores. If you have facts to share that support you position I'm sure the share holders would love to hear your thoughtful insights. Ranting here does not hurt the company one bit, truly they don't care about what you or I have to say and our opinions won't help or hurt sales. People come here for information about layoffs because they're concerned about their livelihood and are searching for facts or they have been laid off and want to share their experience

Reply to Anonymous71765. Great stats....You are probably on the chopping block cause you can only spout stats, with no basis as to what they mean. Target is DECLINING. Amazon has passed you by. Walmart has passed you by. Costco has passed you by. Target is DECLINING, and will be DEAD.

For the second quarter in a row, cheap chic retailer Target (NYSE:TGT) reported positive growth in its U.S. comparable sales. The company said that its Q4 sales in stores open for over a year increased 3.8%, following 1.2% growth registered in Q3 fiscal 2014. Target’s comparable sales growth was much better than analysts’ expectation of 3%.

Dear Anonymous71745. You are a troll. Stores can be opened and closed on a whim. See Target Canada. 3000 people laid off Mid March. 3,000 Head Count total, including All Store Closings.

Disregard this post. It's completely wrong. Target is opening 15 stores in 2015. EVERYONE knows this.

3,000 TM's would be 20-25% of HQ. That is not realistic.
