Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

To "Really?", if you had bothered to look more than one day ahead in your life you would have seen the writing on the wall. It was never going to be sustainable. All you had to do was ask people what they think of Everest and the degrees. A majority of them would have laughed at you or asked if you had any of their degrees handy so they could use them as toilet paper.

You all have access to what is called the world wide web on your smartphones. I know you do, my students do all their work from the POS Everest app because they all gotz their blinging smartfones, but no computerz! A little bit of research would have gone very far. Two little keywords, "Everest reviews" and boom.

Don't blame America for your stupidity or lack of the ability to see more than 5 minutes ahead.

Zenith/Everest finally responds in a press release to the Corinthian 15: "Corinthian 15, I thought we had a clear understanding about our little deal. You show up once every two weeks to keep the aid flowing, we take our cut and give you the rest in regular stipend checks. Then you go about your life and never pay back the loans. Your credit sucks anyway and it's not like you'll ever have anything to get repossessed. Everyone makes out like a bandit and nobody gets hurt, right? (well, the taxpayers get suckered, but so what?) So what's this about you making noise to the press? That's NOT part of the deal, and we're not folks you want to mess with. Think about it. Love, Everest/Zenith"

Sorry, but you were NOT DRIVEN to further your education. You were enamored with the Everest commercials with the dude and a sideways hat saying, "Hey homey! Just pick up the phone and call, it is that easy!" Any doofus knowing anything understands that a good education takes hard work on your part as a student. It takes time, commitment, and dedication. As an instructor I see none of those traits in more than 95% of my students. I'm lucky to have ONE student about of 30 plus that shows commitment or dedication.

Really, you're the classic I'm the victim. It's always someone else's fault never mine. I have news for you, I've paid into social security for 40 years so how am I responsible for bankrupting it? Also, I never mentioned a race when I made the factual statement of unwed mothers. You are the one that just had to put a race in in my statement. You want free education, who do you think should pay for your free education? I already pay for the first 12 years of your education, should I be responsible for everything else in your life? I guess you believe in wealth redistribution like Obama. I didn't sell out this country to China, the policies of the government did. If you want so many things free the money has to come from somewhere. I've worked everyday of my life since I was 16 years old, paid my taxes, social security, Medicare, school taxes and school loans. So yeah Really, I'm to blame for your problems.

I guess it is not surprising that Zenith won't respond. They have organized the cutthroat culture of "pay or die (literally) trying" which many tables in this picture. Too bad the only table Zenith will play is the one that drove the Corinthian 15 and many more to the point of "nothing to lose" by fighting the ECMC machine. This capitalist will assist students against whom fraud was perpetrated. And I am not alone.

No, we think it's ok that trade school costs $24,000 and Med school runs you $200,000, as long as somebody's making money. Wouldn't want a free education - that's what dumb countries like Germany do. You are the first generation made poor by lack of work ethics. It's become the "Me" generation. It's owed to me because it is. I worked 2 part time jobs to finance my education. And you speak about single mothers like that's someone else's fault. I believe I had nothing to do with you being a single mother. Again the first generation to have over 50% of the children born out of wedlock. My problem, don't think so.

Hey Corinthian 15, maybe if you would have come to class everyday and stayed awake when you were there you would have landed that good paying job. If you would have invested in your future instead of financing every penny you wouldn't be so far in debt. How many new tattoos did you buy with your stipend checks? You are responsible for your education, not me. I gave you all the necessary information to become a great technician and start a career. You refused to absorb the information, your cellphone was more important. If you really want to see who cheated you, look in the nearest mirror.

Corinthian 15: For Gods' sake! Your genesis loans (I'm sure you took those out too, can't have too much stuff) have been forgiven. The Federal loans all have income contingent repayment plans. You send in your tax return and a reasonable monthly payment is calculated based on it. If you keep paying regularly after so many years anything remaining is wiped out. Not by magic - because the people who work and pay taxes instead of being leeches pay them off for you. That's really not enough for you? If not, then you have no potential to be a worthwhile citizen. Just shut up and live on the streets and get by dumpster diving. I don't feel sorry for you.

To the "Corinthian 15" -- and WE trusted YOU to have the common sense to not supplement your income with additional borrowing to buy trendy clothes and manicures, to have the character to commit yourself to study and to being present and involved in the classroom, and to have the common decency to want to pay back your debt to the hardworking Moms and Dads of America.

We the Corinthian 15 - are we seriously supposed to feel sorry for you? None of this was your fault...at all?!? Sorry, I've been an Everest instructor a long time. We're pretty expensive, but most of our students get into way too much debt because they want stipend checks and borrow for those instead of working their way through college like I did. All of my students who were conscientious and put effort into their studies gained valuable knowledge and skills and got good career starter positions. They worked hard and are paying back their debt to the taxpayers, and paying taxes themselves as self-sufficient adults. Now why is it again you shouldn't have to pay what you owe?

We are the helicopter parented 'me' generation who said "Screw community college - I'm a gonna go Hollywood and become rich and famous...suckaaaas!" We are the spoiled, unaccountable leeches on society who said "Max out them loans, baby - I'm a gonna be rich and famous and still prolly won't bother paying them back! Screw you...suckaaaaas!" We are the ones who didn't show up for class, didn't read the textbooks, rolled our eyes when the instructors tried to help us, because "I'm just here for the dollahs, bitch, I ain't learnin' how to have some sucka job!
