Almost all of my Heald credits transfered. Your best bet is to transfer to another WASC accredited school that has an existing articulation agreement with Heald. Yes, the receiving school decides what credits to accept. Good luck.

Heald credits for the most part don't transfer.

I have not seen Heald credits successfully transferred. There are many posts here about this as well, just search.

If you are dumb enough to pay $10K to get an AA degree from Heald after getting the worthless AAS when you can get the same courses at the CC for under $2K then I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale.

Ditto on 321. It's up to the transferring school.

Referencing 317's comments about transfering credits: It matters very little about what Heald says. What matters is what the accepting college says. Take your transcript and a full course description to the registrar at thr college you are considering transferring to and see what THEY say about Heald credits transferring.

My advice to students:

  1. Try to hang in there. If Heald closes there are provisions that would forgive some or all of your debt. If Heald doesn't close you will have earned your degree.

  2. Understand your options before you decide to leave. Heald credits transfer well because of our accreditation. Information about transferability of Heald credits is on page 12 of the catalog.

  3. No matter what, do not give up on your education.

I am a Heald employee and Heald graduate.

918 here. When I said instructors couldn't do other things, I didn't mean that they were incompetent boobs, only that they have been doing the same thing for a while, and in many cases don't have up to date skills for new jobs that are currently in the marketplace.

The truth is somewhere in between 910's rose colored glasses, and 913's rancor. As 912 says, hope is not a strategy. Heald is not doing well, and no amount of happy talk is going to change that. Heald may have had a good reputation before it was acquired by CCi, but it certainly doesn't now. Any buyer would be buying what Heald is now, not what it was a decade or more ago. Instructors aren't sadists trying to prey on a vulnerable population. They started out caring about the students, wanting to bring some good into the world. The thing is, many are not qualified to do other things, so they've done what is necessary to keep their jobs. Many of the older instructors will simply retire. 811, read the news, set up a Google alert for "Heald College" and make decisions in your best interest.

Don't listen to employees, they are either in denial or sadists trying bring down the vulnerable and trusting student population. Most of the staff are not qualified to work in academia and they will all be competing for jobs in the remaining diploma mills in CA. If you are a student contact the Attorney General's office to get real information about your rights and report any illegal or unethical behavior of staff.

910 - I admire your spirit and loyalty, and hope that you have a solid plan B. Hope is not a strategy

We will not fail, not because we are too big to fail, but rather because the students and the staff at Heald believe in what Heald has always believed in and that is students first. I work at at probably the best campus. Every faculty member staff and the students believe in what we do and we will to keep it that way. Those of you who comment on this site that Heald is lying to everyone, it is going to be bankrupt, can't trust the leadership on the campuses and at CAO - PLEASE QUIT and find a place that is filled with other negative people like you. Do not apply at my campus as everyone wants to be here and are working to make sure we succeed and Heald maintains that confidence and trust that we have earned over 150 years. I would not have stayed here at Heald for almost 18 years if I didn't believe that.

BTW, it's not that campus staff won't give you any information, it's that they don't know any more than you do what's going on, and what's going to happen.

Heald is not too big to fail. Corinthian may have been, but a 13-campus Heald isn't even close. I'd check out your local community college to see if any credits transfer. One of the problems you're facing is that if Heald closes, the government MAY release you from your student debt, but it won't if you transfer.

Form a legal standpoint, 70821, I would recommend that you not give advice. Good God, we have anonymous online posters trying to steer student academic choices. Heald is too big to fail, so classes will continue.

It's a tough scenario. Not likely that Heald will survive much longer. A sals seems incereasingly unluikely. If you drop now, you still have your accumulated debt which will need to be repaid, starting almost immediately. Your credits may or may not transfer - you should check that out immediately with a local community college.
