Thread regarding Noble Energy Inc. layoffs

Can anyone recommend an experienced labor attorney?

The employees who were laid off will presumably have an attorney review the actions and legal documents. Does anyone have an attorney, experienced in labor law, whom they could recommend? Has anyone received any feedback from attorney's they have already visited with?

They didn't just let go of experienced workers. People still going through rotations, fresh out of school were let go in both Houston and Denver. Of course, if you're looking for another job, looks like they're hiring again. Nice to know they got their feet under them so quickly.

I could recommend several in Colorado. I don't know which state you're in. However, if some kind of discrimination has taken place (age, race, religion, gender, pregnancy), I'd recommend you talk with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) as a starting point. They have field offices all over the country. Discrimination is a federal offense and would be taken up by this agency regardless of whether you hire a private attorney.

Right. There is no contact that either party is obligated to continue the relationship. You did the work and got paid for it. If you don't sue you'll probably also get a nice severance package that they have no obligation to give you.

Texas is an at will state but employers still cannot discriminate based on age, race, gender, religion, etc. I'm not sure you can bring in a bunch of younger, lower paid employees and push the older, higher paid ones out the door. That's not even taking into account the negative effects on the company from the loss of experienced staff.

Get a Dallas labor lawyer and not a Houston, Texas based one.
