Thread regarding Heald College layoffs

Where to get information if your school is closed.

Here's the reality: contrary to what Eeva would have you believe, you won't be hung out to dry if Heald closes. For one thing, your debt will be discharged. Here are some resources for job information, legal aid, and school information. It also talks about how/where to find information about transferability of credits. https://oag.ca.gov/consumers/general/corinthian-colleges

You can get additional federal aid if the govt. discharges your debt.

I'm not sure the not getting financial aid part is accurate in the case of closed school discharges. Also, the part about transfer of credit still depends on the receiving school. https://studentaid.ed.gov/repay-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/closed-school

Just to clarify-any student loan debt is not automatically discharged. You must make the decision to discharge your debt. If you do, then you will not have any units to transfer as it will "undo" your education. Also, you cannot get federal financial aid again if you discharge your debt. So, no transfer units. If you choose to keep your units, you cannot discharge your debt.

Other than that, good info. Thanks for sharing.

845, if the school is sold and rebranded 1) students don't get their loans discharged 2) the new owner is liable for the lawsuit UNLESS Eeva's protest works, and the California attorney general's office releases the new owner from liability.

Heald employees are assholes. No wonder no one else will hire them. Losers!

And if Heald end up being sold and likely rebrand, what's next? What's going to happen to the pending lawsuit against the school?
