Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

NOV Pampa

Folks, A downturn in our industry is just that, Each and every company must insure its bottom line and thus its survival, Unfortunately this sometimes involves human capital reductions that are painful for both sides of the table. I went to work for NOV in Febuary of 2006, and yes I was let go from the Pampa facility last Thursday. I totally enjoyed my position and was able to make a difference in the product what else could anyone ever ask for. NOV is a great company with overall good people. There is no need to get on here and bash anyone as it will not help anything. Its time to get down to it and go on to something else.

sounds like Willis Texas has a big issue someone needs to address.

Make it ugly , tell the truth. Get the facts and put it on flash drive, make a copy and mail to an important position that doesn't make their money at that location.

Agree Don, NOV is shareholder n profit driven. Low sales lead to layoffs sadly. This is happening all over via golden parachutes for senior executives now.....

Its Don A Davis, sorry about the confusion. Am I happy about spending 9.1 years somewhere and let go? No sir im not ! However there isn’t anything I can do about it, and there is no reason to sit around and be depressed about it. I can however reflect back on the knowledge I have gained, the experiences I have had, and pride in what I have done. All of which will hopefully help me find a new position somewhere else.

A good friend and former co worker called me this weekend. He told me something that I find to be true NOV is a job, it is not and never has been a carrier. It is a place that doesn’t care about what a person knows, what they can do, how dedicated a person is, but rather how well liked a person is and where they fit in the political organization at the local level.

Each and every person has the right to their opinion, This was mine . By posting anything at all here I have destroyed any chance I had to return to NOV, however I believe it needed to be said. I also understand the need to stay or be anonymous on this site, however it would be nice to know who one is talking to
