Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Discrimination of Men

In some areas of Target it was the men (Accounts Payable) that were in the extreme minority and were discriminated against. Many men could not get into the FF&F silliness and so were disadvantaged to be promoted or even keep their jobs. And the Happy Hours? How is Target family friendly when team members are expected to go out drinking after work rather than go home to their families? What hypocrites.

In general, after working for many years in corporate America, it's usually a woman that "reports" a male employee for "perceived slights" against her. It could be anything she thinks he has done or hasn't done or said or didn't say to her. Sadly, I've seen many top contributing male employees terminated over "moody female's" behaviors at various companies, including Target. It's silly. If you're male in a females dominated work environment, keeps your head down, say just enough to "participate" and get some females work allies to protect your 12's and 6's.

I can also share about the male discrimination in the Finance pyramid... when I was there 9/10 leaders were white women and they were hostile towards any men that were in their ranks either by shooting down ideas, insisting on FFF events that appealed to women only, and resorting to yelling and not reason if things didn't go their way. Any man that left was replaced with a woman. The only things that got done were complaining about their husbands and non-stop drama. So glad I left.

It's different from team to team. On my former team (left T HQ last year), any happy hour we had was at 4pm, didn't involve a lot of alcohol (2 people are sober), and everyone left to go home by 6pm. I'm male, and was on a team of 3 males and 6 females. Never felt discriminated against.
