The Real Everest Whistle Blower

The whistle was blown on Everest college way before Laurie McConnell spoke up. In 2010 I was "laid off" and told my position "no longer existed in the corporate structure" the day after the company figured out I'd been the one to not only report half a dozen instances of academic and financial fraud to the company's "anonymous" hotline, but to the California DOE and AG. And this was also one day before the annual bonus pay out. Since I wasn't fired, I had no recourse. I had to feed my family, so I got to work finding a new job, and moved on. At least I was able to leave with my head held high, knowing I had done everything I could to make sure things were done right at three of the SoCal campuses instead of follow in the footsteps of my predecessors and fellow campus "leaders" - or should I say, puppets.

Now that Everest is finally getting shut down, I'm very happy. But not for the students. At least at my campuses, I was able to ensure they received solid training from teachers who were well-trained themselves, admitted by representatives who knew I was watching them, and were not defrauded by financial aid representatives. I did all that because I'm not a finance person or a recruiter, but an educator, trained in school leadership and management. Most career college leaders are not. That is one of the reasons they fall for the big $$$ in their pockets every quarter. I walked away from that type of work 4 years ago and will never go back to it.

It's the story of CCi, they are a bunch of tattle telling children. So glad I am out of there!

I don't care if you think you were right or not, but you sure did jack up a lot of lives along the way. All because you sucked at your job.

You only have an audience of losers now (and you can say the same about me if you want) but Karma and what goes around will not be for the Exec's only. You screwed up my friend and the wrath shall come to you in many folds.

Now go get a job at McDees and quiet your little self, oh wait you only suck at jobs that pay you well, no fry station for you.

@The Real Everest Whistle Blower, I appreciate your efforts. It's a shame no one listened to you or the other whistleblowers who preceded you at Everest. It's also a shame that Jerry Brown, who was the California AG at the time, made a sweatheart deal with Corinthian Colleges in 2007; maybe a more harsh punishment would have signaled to them that they needed to correct their business practices.

I call BS on this one. Those of us who work at campuses know this is BS. He/she was in charge of three campuses? No admissions or finance background? made sure that students "were not defrauded by financial aid representatives"? None of this rings true. Academic and financial fraud? What, was this the actual guy whose staff were paying temp agencies off to hire grads? This is nonsense. I don't even believe this idiot worked for CCI. If he/she did, why not give more specifics? Unless of course you're ashamed of what you did, or your present life.

Real Blower....it's been 5 years and your long gone....so what's your name? You seriously think you were the only person whistle blowing? You can say your name - go ahead, five us something more to laugh about.

Good job. I know that many of us tried to stay to help the students.... But helping the students against the so called "leaders" became difficult and effected our home lives. Good luck and God bless for those who thought about more then just about lining the pockets of the "leaders" and believed that they were changing lives.

I am a real educator also, but I still work at Everest. Did it ever occur to you that when the "real educators" leave they are leaving the students in the hands of those who do not have their best interest at heart? I'm glad I stayed, because it appears to me that then new leadership, like Troy Stovall, are educators.

Good work--you did the right thing. I'm gone from here, too, next week. I'm moving back to my home state to work for a job placement company... hopefully better ethics, too. Peace out!
